Today on the blog, I’m sharing my top 3 post-engagement tips!
Once you are engaged, things can start to feel a little (or a lot) hectic. Not only will you be showered with well-intentioned wedding questions, but you will also be overwhelmed (in a good way, of course) with all the excitement and possibilities an engagement season brings. It is a lot to take in all at once, no doubt about it. That being said, I am here to help you alleviate some of the initial stress by helping you get off on the right foot! Here are 3 things to do once you are engaged.
Before you sit down to plan all of the details of your wedding day, make sure to truly celebrate what just happened….your engagement! Be completely present in this moment with one another. Take it all in. This is such a special time in your lives and it is so worth celebrating! Make sure to celebrate with the people who have helped you get here, too. However you may decide to celebrate, I hope you enjoy savoring every bit of it!
It’s no shocker that weddings can get really pricey, really quick. That being said, one thing I always recommend to my couples is to nail down their top 3-5 priorities, if they have not already done so. Personally, my top three priorities would be photography, florals, and a planner or day-of coordinator. A great photographer can capture your day well and honestly to help you remember it all. Your florals will be a beautiful accent to the overall tone of your big day. And finally, your planner or day-of coordinator will ensure you have a stress-free day by taking care of all the day-of logistics so that you don’t have to!
Maybe your three priorities are dress, location, and photographer. Great! Focus your time, energy, and money on finding your perfect dress, booking your dream location, and finding your ideal photographer to join you!
Anything that doesn’t make your top priorities is not worth stressing over. For example, let’s say you decide that stationery is not a top priority. This doesn’t mean your stationery will be ugly. It just means you’re not going the fanciest route possible. It means you are being wise with where you are investing your money.
Okay, okay. I know these are multiple things, but I would argue they all go together! These are the action steps that need to be taken first and foremost. Not only will you know what date everything must be done by, but you will also know who is paying for the wedding and who will be the one to help bring your wedding-day vision to life and ensure you have the most memorable and stress-free day possible.
Please do not ask your Aunt Susie or your best friend to be your planner or day-of person. Planners and coordinators do so, so much. Asking a loved one to do this will keep them from truly being able to enjoy the day. Trust me on this one. Budget for a planner or day-of coordinator and you will be so glad you did.
A few of my favorite planners: Simply XO Events, Rachel Johnson with Two Be Wed, and Abbie O Events.
