It was a super warm day in August in Austin, Texas. It started off downtown with my friend Blake because he was second shooting with me at this particular wedding. We caught up over coffee, which was a perfect way to kick off an amazing day! Then, we drove and met Lizzy and her girls at a super cute AIRBNB. I love when brides rent an AIRBNB because it’s a great way to personalize the getting ready space and allow more room as opposed to regular wedding venues. We enjoyed hanging out with them and photographing the details there!
Next, we drove on over to Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, which is where the day’s events would take place. This was the perfect place to host Lizzy and Lucas’s whimsical garden party wedding. It’s also such a special place to me because I have memories of walking around the property with my Mimi, who was the very person to inspire me to get into photography. Needless to say, I loved that Lizzy and Lucas decided to tie the knot here!
Lizzy got into her wedding dress in one of the libraries- which was so unique and fun! When we wrapped up with her and went to meet Lucas, he was so giddy and more than ready to get married. Their day was filled with so much love and so many real moments. Their love for each other is what carried the day, and I was so thankful and excited to be a witness to it!
The ceremony was outside in the August sunshine and held in the beautiful courtyard at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. There are two things I especially loved about their ceremony. First, the kids were absolutely adorable! Fun fact: it is my dream this year to publish a coffee table book called Kids At Weddings.
Second, Lizzy’s dad walked her down the aisle and then switched spots with the person who welcomed everyone to the wedding so that he could marry Lizzy and Lucas. How sweet is that?!
Once the ceremony ended, cocktail hour began at Wetland Pond Garden, which was right behind the ceremony space. Following the cocktail hour would be the reception, which was held in the main complex in the courtyard to help spread everyone out (because, COVID).
One of the absolute highlights of this wedding was the reception! Most of the people at Lizzy and Lucas’s wedding had worked at Sky Ranch together. And boy, did they go wild! Everyone was so sweaty and having the time of their lives. It was great!
After an incredibly special day, the night ended with a family prayer while everyone else lined up for the bubble-themed send-off.
Welcome to married life, Lizzy and Lucas! Thank you for letting me capture your very special day!
