2020, y’all. I feel like these past twelve months were 7 years long, but I also feel like I blinked and it was over. Anyone else?? 2020 was a big one, but you know this.
45 weddings. 14 engagement sessions. 2 proposals. 7 seniors. 1 conference.
Brides of Houston. Junebug weddings.
Negril, Jamaica. Portland, Oregon. Seattle, Washington. Cabo San Lucas. Knoxville, Tennessee. Max Patch, North Carolina. Vail, Colorado. Moab, Utah. Prada Marfa. Cannon Beach, Oregon. Athens, Tennessee. St. Louis Missouri. Cape Kiwanda. Alexandria, Virginia. Washington, D.C.. Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Doing a 2020: Year in Review was the best. Getting to round up atleast one photo from every time I picked up my camera this year was sweet. This year was the busiest year yet for the BSP team. It’s so fun getting to relive these moments and reflect on what God has done this year. Between all the couples and season celebrated, starting my job with Grant Daniels as an associate photographer, launching my brand and website, and shooting my 100th wedding of my career… it was wild to say the least. A year full of growth, surrender, and celebration.
Three things: 1. I did this month by month, so if you want to skip to a specific time, you can!!! 2. There are alot of photos. Like ALOT. If you actually get through this, thank you. This year meant so much to me and every moment mattered. 3. I did this mainly so I can look back year after year, but if you enjoy it too, that makes me happy!
Keep on scrollin for the good stuff!!!!
The month I’m 98% sure I had covid (or the worst flu of my life) hahah I also shot a wedding in Jamaica with my girl Brittany and documented You Are Conference. After this conference, I didn’t want to move out of College Station because I had met this community of woman who were ruuuuunning after Jesus on a level I hadn’t experienced before.
This month I shot with: Brittany Partain
I took my sisters engagement photos this month!!! I was as emo as you think. The girl who made me a big sister was getting married. GOSH. Tears. I also went to Cabo this month and it was a sweet time of rest.
This month I shot with: Sarah Slover and Parker Chase
I saw the PNW coast for the first time in March with two of my pals! This was also the month I was supposed to go to Morocco and Paris for my birthday with friends!!! But the world fell apart so #rip to that birthday trip. Instead I went on a long solo walk, had BBQ with a handful of my best friends, and played fish bowl for a few hours, so it was actually my favorite!
Not much happened in April because, ya know, we had no idea what was going on. I did shoot my first covid micro-wedding and got to celebrate the Pettit’s!!!
My baby sister turned 16! I’m old. I took some of my last senior photos of some great friends of mine and it was sweet. I documented two more backyard micro-weddings and I started falling in loooove with smaller weddings.
This month I shot with: Bonner Roden
My best friends got engaged!!! A moment I’ll love forever. I also got to spend time on the lake with the littles!!! My happy place. I started shooting weddings with Shi this month (ptl for her friendship) AND I got to take some friends on a Texas tour!!! Thriving.
This month I shot with: Sarah Slover and Shiloe Osborne
Another proposal to kick off this month! I also got to visit Tennessee, North Carolina, and Utah for work. This was also the month I moved out of my College Station home. That was rough hahah
BUT this was also the month I launched my brand and website!!!! What a thing to celebrate. There was a lot of time, energy, sleepless nights, and emails sent between Kelsea and I that went into this launch. My business is a HUGE part of my testimony and all I wanted was for my words to hold the weight of my heart behind this business. That is harder than it looks, let me tell you hahah
You wouldn’t be reading this post if it wasn’t for Kelsea with Kindly by Kelsea. If you are looking for a rebrand and/or a custom website designed by one of the most talented woman in the industry, run to Kelsea!
This month I shot with: Blake Nelson, Brittany Partain, and Grant Daniels
As I’m writing this, I look to Audrey and say “wow, August was quite the year” and honestly, I stand by that. It was a looong month. One of the highlights was driving to San Angelo for Kacelyn and Ty’s engagement session. We spent the evening with Kacelyn’s family on the lake and enjoying family dinner before a sunset boat ride! It was the best. The next morning we drove to Marfa for their session and ended the day with McDonalds on the tailgate of Ty’s truck hahah the dream!!! Truly.
August was the month I moved to Fort Worth, started working at the Darkroom/for Grant, and met Audrey. My people!!!!
Another highlight was taking my sisters bridals at the Darkroom. TEARS. Holy cow! Bear isn’t one to step in front of the camera often, so doing bridals for her was a gift.
Final highlight was visiting Portland and Cannon Beach again. I enjoy PNW in the summer alot more than winter hahah
This month I shot with: Gavin Menichini, Shiloe Osborne, Grant Daniels, and Parker Chase
Another trip to Tennessee to celebrate Allie and Stephen’s wedding! This was a camp wedding, so need I say more? A few days after getting home from Tennessee, I photographed the Big Fake Wedding – Dallas, and then finished the month second shooting with Parker Chase at Contigo Ranch, which is a venue I had been wanting to shoot at for awhile! It definitely lived up to the hype.
This month I shot with: Parker Chase
Talk about another month that felt like a year long! I started in St. Louis, Missouri for Kaitlin and Adam’s wedding. It was a rainy wedding day full of camp friends!!! The next weekend was a triple wedding weekend that ended with McKenna and Garrett’s wedding!! I played bridesmaids and photographer and loved it. The month ended with a courthouse elopement in downtown Fort Worth!
Highlight of this month: My sister got married!!! Ahh! Bear is a wife. It was genuinely the sweetest day I’ve experienced. Having all the people I’ve grown up with surrounding my family as my baby sister gets married. Nothing better!!! Plus two of my best friends photographed the day, which was the cherry on top of it all. Don’t ask about the photos of me crying. They’re worse than Kim K’s crying face.
This month I shot with: Blake Nelson
My sisters wedding was shot by: Brittany Partain
One weekend. Two cities. West coast to East coast. The best time!!! (expect for the frozen toes and the giant wave that almost took Shi and I out) Cape Kiwanda and Virginia are some of the most beautiful places for elopements. Take! Me! Back! About three days after I got back, I got to photograph the Spiars wedding, which was a highlight of my month. Celebrating friends and their families is the greatest joy.
November was also the month of mini sessions, family sessions, and Thanksgiving (obviously). Sweet time with my family and really fun weddings with friends. So! Thankful!
This month I shot with: Shiloe Osborne, Audrey Spiars, and Parker Chase
I’m really thankful for this month. Although working in December is hard, it was worth it. Celebrating Kimberly and Joey in Fayetteville with their “plan z” was a sweet picture of what really matters on a wedding day. We made a video for the Darkroom, hence the new headshots hahah shoutout to Aud. I got to photograph Trent and Meg, who were my first couple of 2020, at the Darkroom. Finally, I got to second shoot for two photographers who I really look up to, Hannah Mayson in Austin and Sarah Kate in Dallas (not pictured).
This month I shot with: Hannah Mayson
This year has blown me away. If you’ve been here for years or you just stumbled upon my work, I’m thankful. I never imagined I’d get to be a part of so many celebrations and feel so good about where this is going. I wouldn’t be here without you!
Here’s to 2021 being even better than the last.
